  1. Direct the process and time management1

  2. Determine client suitability

  3. Practice within sphere of competence

  4. Safeguarding and risk assessment

  5. Confidentiality and keeping appropriate records

  6.  Seeks Informed Consent

  7. Explain the treatment model to the client

  8. Create a safe space for feedback and honesty (this would include giving the client a feedback form and also informing them of the complaints procedure)

  9. Commits to reflective practice and supervision

  10. Follows a code of ethics

  11. Ongoing personal and professional development

  12. Designs the treatment plan together with the client

  13. Modifies the treatment plan based on feedback

  14. Preparing the client for the end of therapy

  15. Relapse prevention

Client roles & responsibilities

  1. Turns up to sessions on time.

  2. Engages in the therapy

  3. Comes to therapy open to the process

  4. Shares information that is relevant for thetherapy to proceed

  5. Is motivated to change (therapist can help withthis)

  6. Is receptive - engages a learning attitude

  7. Is active in the process rather than adopting await and see attitude

  8. Completes homework 

  9. Pays the fees
